Artistic and cultural awakening participates in the good development of the child
Artistic and cultural awakening covers a varied field ranging from traditional spontaneous activities found in all cultures (storytelling, children's songs) to proposals by creators of cultural activities for toddlers (live shows, professional readings, concerts). Numerous studies show the positive effects of reading aloud involving parents and young children.
In the musical field too, some positive effects for cognitive and social development are well known today. Babies are attentive to musical proposals and perceive their sound complexity. The hierarchical structure of music, its rhythm and periodicity, its emotional impact and its universal character make it one of the best vehicles for emotional and social sharing, generating individual pleasure and attachment to others.
Babies are immediately sensitive to it and singing, available to all, helps to support the baby's awakening and attention, to regulate his emotions, and to develop his sense of belonging to the group. Babies of 5 months are thus more attracted to adults who sing the same songs as their parents, whereas familiar songs sung by a toy do not have the same effect. As babies get older, they become more and more inventive and shape new songs by repeating and improvising on the melodies they have learned. They feel encouraged and recognized when adults join them in these inventive, often joyful and humorous sound and body explorations.
Happiness consists in frequent repetition of pleasure.
