Most people are not searching for truth at all.

You say most people are not searching for provable truths. I say, most people are not searching for any truth at all, weather provable or otherwise. Part of what you said was right except for one thing, you disregarded fact that just because something hasn't been proved, in no way does this mean it is not true. It only means it hasn't been proven with scientific evidence. You seem to be a believer of the theory that whatever science can't prove, doesn't exist. It is quite impossible for that to be true because then, of course, that would mean that the ngs like DNA and viruses and look really millions of other scientific discoveries literally did not exist until someone discovered them. The problem is not weather or not something can be proven. The problem is the other part of what you said. People aren't looking for truth, they are just looking for something to believe in that makes them feel good....It makes you feel good to believe that there is no God. The fact that you cannot prove that he doesn't exist is of no significance to you. Because you found the thing that makes you feel good.

And the same is true for almost everyone. This is human nature. No one seeks truth of our own initiative.

Left to ourselves, we can never find truth because our very nature is to block it out and look for reasons not to believe because we are born with a predisposition to avoid any truth that would unravel our own belief system which we have in ignorance, subscribed to because it appeals to some need we have within ourselves. It's something different for different people. Some people feel empowered by being able to judge others as evil and see themselves as God's beloved. Some people feel empowered by the idea that it's easy to please God if you just do A B and C and repeat, in a robotic manner, no needing to even think about it because A B and C has been programmed into their minds and if they just follow the program, they'll have it made. Some people feel empowered by believing that God is whoever they want him to be because that God from the Bible doesn't seem tolerant enough for them. And on and on it goes.

At the heart of every religious beliefs system is a personal motivation and a personal need that this belief system fulfills. This in itself is in error, but it doesn't stop there. Because our time nderstanding has been darkened by sin, our perceptions are distorted. What is white looks black and what is black looks white. Everything is upside down and inside out. This is why, left to ourselves, we cannot find truth. Because when it is presented to us, in our fallen condition, having our understanding darkened by sin, it is not appealing and therefore, we don't need to prove that it isn't true. We just reject it because we don't like it. And no further analysis is needed.

This is not just true for religion. This is true for politics and social issues. The elites know this and this is how they control us. They use the news media, social media, internet search engines, the democrats and the republicans in the government, entertainment, science, academics, large cooperations and businesses to influence and control our understanding of reality and control the way we think. Democrats tell their voters just what they want to hear. Republicans do the same. They stir us up against each other and give us the elusion of choice. All the while, we believe that there are two sides battling for control. And in some sense, this is true but not as much as you might think. Largely, many of the battles we think are being fought are battles that have already been lost or won, depending on which side to stand on. We believe we live in a free country, then one day, we wake up to fascism pushed upon us in the name of public health and safety and literally, there's not a damn thing we can do about it until they "allow" us to resume our normal lives. We are not free. But we must be given the elusion of freedom and of choice. We must believe that we have the power to change how our country operates by casting our vote. We voted for all the right people, we thought, but we still get the same old thing. Or it gets worse. Who would have thought that a republican governor would subject us to fascism and tyranny? No one! It doesn't matter for whom you vote. But they use psychology against us, knowing what we want to hear and saying it. We want to believe it so much that we don't look for reasons not to believe and often, even when presented with evidence that this person is probably not the moral champion we think they are, we disregard it because think we need a leader and if he's not it, then we are left with the other guy and he certainly is not it, and then we're lost. So instead of dealing with the truth that we have already lost this battle, we keep on believing that we can just vote away our problems.

It's the same for those who find religion and those who despise religion and believe in science. This is also a religion. It is a set of beliefs about who we consider to be God which doesn't require and real proof and which impacts how we think and live our lives in relation to this "God". The concept of God doesn't have to be in relation to a being which exists in a spiritual realm, who is worshipped. This is a traditional understanding of what a god is. But a simpler and more relavent idea of what a god is, is any thing that is worshipped. Then we have to define worship. To worship something is to devote ones self to it, and to allow it to control you more than anything else in the world, this one thing has the last say, the ultimate control and the utmost of your attention, undivided, unrivaled devotion. For some people this is money, their own self, drugs, relationships, religion itself, career success, fame, and the list goes on and on. Some people worship science. Whatever you worship is in all practicality, a god, a god of your own making. If there is any ojective, absolute truth which does not change to suit our distorted ideas of what is good and right and needed for our own personal reasons, we will never find it unless it reveals itself to us and gives us the gracious gift of being able and willing to accept it.

Jesus Christ said, "I am the way, the truth, and the life." But if that's true, he has to find a way to bypass all our reasons which we create in our own minds, for refusing to believe. We can't just find it in ourselves to see good wholly good and evil as wholly evil. For even our understanding do such is distorted. It takes absolute grace to reveal absolute truth and give us the ability and desire to accept it.
